California Pacific Medical Center What we are known for
California Pacific Medical Center is one of the largest private, not-for-profit, academic medical centers in Northern California and a Sutter Health affiliate. We provide access to leading-edge medicine while delivering the best possible personalized care. Through our medical education program and Research Institute, physicians at California Pacific are able to bring health care innovation to the bedside. At California Pacific we are known for our advanced medical care in areas such as interventional endoscopy, advanced minimally invasive surgery, high-risk obstetrics, specialty pediatrics, microsurgery, organ transplantation, neurosciences, rehabilitation, and non-invasive heart diagnostic services and treatment. Taking Care Beyond the Hospital Walls The doors of California Pacific Medical Center are always open to those who depend on us for care and healing. But many people may not realize those doors also provide a portal through which our own caregivers and health educators travel out into our city's diverse neighborhoods to deliver community services where they are most needed. Health Champions is one such program working in schools to promote the message of healthy eating and physical activity among school-age children in San Francisco. Students take part in weekly cooking classes and high-energy physical education classes, family nights help to extend the benefits of the program to parents and siblings. The success of Health Champions has led to California Pacific's participation in a National Youth Obesity Learning Collaborative, a new program which is part of a national effort to identify and refine effective community strategies and promising practices to prevent and reduce youth obesity. California Pacific Medical Center not only opens its doors to the public--it opens its heart to the community. In 2004 and 2005, California Pacific donated more than a million dollars through its Community Health Grants Program, supporting more than 21 community organizations lending aid to thousands of people and families in the San Francisco area. Additionally, California Pacific and San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium (SFCCC) have created a new partnership to increase health care for residents of the City's most needy and least healthy neighborhoods. Through the partnership, California Pacific will fund and provide services to increase primary, preventive and specialty care for uninsured residents in the Tenderloin, South of Market, Visitacion Valley and the Mission - four of the communities targeted by the San Francisco Health Commission as needing increased access to primary care to reduce health disparities. The grant portion of the partnership consists of a 2 million dollar donation in 2005 and another 2 million in 2006. California Pacific is honored to serve the diverse community of San Francisco. To advance our goal of being the "medical center of choice," the hospital also participates in the Chinese Community Health Initiative a working group dedicated to meeting the cultural and linguistic needs of San Francisco's Chinese community. At California Pacific Medical Center we are deeply committed to promoting a healthier community. Each year, the hospital participates in the Chinatown Health Fair, providing free screening to attendees. Our employees take great pride in their community and volunteer to educate, inform and raise money for community based organizations such as Self Help for the Elderly, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society and more. The San Francisco Business Times recently named California Pacific Medical Center a "best place to work in the bay area" in the giant company category. The dedicated staff at California Pacific recognizes that the opportunity to be of service to another human being is more than a job, it is a privilege. | ||||
